Welcome SEAOC Members and Friends
On behalf of the 2016 Convention Committee we would like to say Aloha and E como Mai to the 2016 Structural Engineers Association of California (SEAOC) Convention. The convention will be held on the beautiful island of Maui, Hawai’i from Wednesday, October 12 through Saturday, October 15. The theme of this year’s convention is Maui Hau’oli, which translates Maui Happiness. The Northern section is excited to host our colleagues, companions and families at the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa on Ka’anapali Beach.
Over 4 days, the convention will be rich in technical content, with the key focus on “Recovering, learning, and rebuilding after recent Pacific Rim Earthquakes.” This is a goal of structural engineers worldwide, and especially poignant with the recent Tainan Earthquake. Additional technical tracks will focus on new construction, seismic retrofit and research. The SEAOC Convention welcomes our fellow structural engineers from New Zealand, Japan, Hawaii, Washington, and Oregon. Technical sessions will run from Wednesday afternoon to Saturday morning with time each afternoon to enjoy Maui.
Our trade show includes over 40 exhibitor partners and will run concurrently with the technical sessions and showcases new and essential products used by structural engineers in our practice. Continuing a tradition started in Seattle, the 2016 Convention will include a mentoring session, allowing younger structural engineers to learn and connect with more experienced members of SEAOC.
SEAOC encourages our members to come experience Maui with their Ohana (families) at the Hyatt Regency Resort and Spa, a premier and family-friendly destination. With a plethora of activities, from professional development, golf, island tours, and fun social events, we know this is an event that SEAOC members and colleagues will not want to miss. Come join us in Maui!
